An important part of the groups toolset is the ability for supporters to collaborate with, and get to know, other supporters in their area. To facilitate this, group organizers can create offline or virtual events that are associated with the local group.
These events could be general meetings, social gatherings, rallies to support local causes, or anything else the group may want to do. The events look like all other events on the platform, except that they link back to the group's page. Additionally, these events are displayed on the group's 'front page' and on the members-only forum page.
These events are open to all attendees, both those who are members of the local group and those who are not. If someone who is not a member of the local group RSVPs to the event, they'll be shown a popup explaining that they've been automatically subscribed to the group's updates. They can then click to go to the group page or remove themselves from the group.
If the person who RSVPs to the event does not have an account on the site, they'll then be asked to choose a password and create a full account. (Which is required to post in the group's forum page.)
After receiving the RSVP confirmation email, users will also receive an email welcoming them to the local group. From this email, they can navigate to the local group's main page and update their subscription settings.
