Partnerships: Management Tools, Privileges, and Hub Pages

Looking for something specific? Skip ahead:

We also have a help document that you can share with staff at a partner organization.

As a reminder: within this document, CSL org admins are staff at the ControlShift customer organization. Partner admins are the staff at the partner organization who've been invited by a CSL org admin to have special privileges over their partnership.

Partnership Hub Page

Once a CSL org admin has created a partnership, the partner's hub page will be publicly visible. To see the partner hub page, click  View Live page from the partnership's admin page, or click the partner link on a partner petition or event.

The hub page is the home on the web for this partner organization. At the top of the page, the partner organization's name, description, logo, and social media links are shown. The name and description are initially entered by CSL org admins. Once the partnership is created, CSL org admins and/or partner admins can update the content.

Below the introduction to the partnership, the hub page shows the activities that the partner is collaborating on. This may include petitions and/or events, depending on the work the partner is doing.

If you're not seeing an event or petition on the partner's hub page, check the moderation status. Only petitions and events moderated to at least "Good" will be shown on the hub page.

If the new campaign button is enabled, then from the hub page, anyone – administrators from both organizations and the public – can create a new campaign that will be included in the partnership and have partnership settings. However, in order for a petition to appear on the hub page, CSL org admins must moderate the petition as good or awesome.

The event map will only be shown if the partner is cosponsoring an upcoming event that's been moderated to good. When the map is displayed, users can search for events near them. If there are no upcoming events nearby, the user will see a button to create an event.

This hub page can be shared by your or the partner organization to show the work that you're doing together. Many partner organizations will also share this hub page with their existing supporters to get those supporters involved in their work.

Adding and Removing Petitions and Events

To include petitions and events in a partnership, the easiest option is to create them within the partnership. To create the content within the partnership:

  • use the public buttons on the hub page when visible
  • use the new petition or new event buttons in the partnership's management tools
  • click the new petition or new event header links while viewing the partnership hub page
  • partner admins will see a toggle allowing them to associate the new content with their partnership whenever they visit the create a petition or event pages.

Add to a Partnership

If a petition or event is created outside of the partnership, or if the petition/event is being sponsored by more than one partner organization, it's possible for a CSL org admin to move the petition/event into the partnership after creation:

From the petition or event's Admin page, go to the Associations section of the Details tab. Here, click the Add to partnership button to add the petition or event to the partnership. This will open a modal with a dropdown to choose the partnership.

Alternatively, you can associate a petition or event with the partnerships from the partnership's CSL admin page > Petitions or > Events. On this page, you'll see a list of content associated with the partnership. Click the Associated with Partnership button, and complete the URL of the petition or event.

Remove from a Partnership

If a petition or event was created under a partnership and you don't want it to be included in the partnership, it's possible for a CSL org admin to remove it. To do so, go to the petition or event's Admin page. The petition or event's partnerships (as well as its other associations) is included in the Associations section of the Details tab.

Click the Remove button next to the partnership name to remove it from the partnership.

Please note: only CSL org admins with the appropriate permissions can move content in or out of the partnership. Partner admins will not be able to make these changes.

Partner's Management Tools

Partner admins (who are not members of your organization but are staff of the partner organization) will have special privileges. As such, they have their own management toolbar on their partnership's hub page.

From the partner's management toolbar, these partner admins can:

  • view all of the petitions, events, and calendars that have been created under the partnership
  • create new petitions and events in their partnership
  • create blast emails to everyone who has been added to their mailing list (across all of their different petitions and events). Please note: these emails will still require moderation.
  • update their partnership's name, description, logo, and social media links
  • export supporter information (if they have been given that permission).

To preview the partner's management toolbar, go to the partnership's hub page (by clicking View Live Page from the partnership's admin page or by clicking the link shown on a partnership petition or event).

Partner Admin Privileges

Partner admins have advanced, though still limited, permissions on the platform. In terms of their access, partner admins fall between event hosts/petition creators (lower access) and CSL org admins (highest access).

Partner admins' special access extends only to the petitions or events that are included in their partnership. If a partner admin views an event or petition that's unassociated with their partnership, they'll have regular site visitor (no special) access.

In addition to viewing the partner's management tools, which allow partner admins to contact signers and attendees from multiple petitions and events at once and potentially export user contact information from the platform, partner admins are also able to view and use the petition creator and event host tools for the petitions and events included in their partnership. This means that they are able to send email updates to the signers or attendees of a specific petition or event, edit content, view attendee lists for individual events, and download the petition delivery pdf for individual petitions.

However, partner admins are unable to access the CSL org admin only settings for petitions and events. They're also unable to perform admin-only exports of user information, perform any moderation tasks (including for petitions or events in their partnership), or see any CSL org admin-only pages (pages that are accessible from the org admin homepage).

Additionally, please note that all emails – including those drafted from the partner's hub page and from a petition or event's email supporters page – will need to be approved by CSL org admins before they'll be sent to supporters.
