Platform
Updates / Bug Fixes
- We've made various updates to the new admin-only full-platform search that we announced last week. † Recent updates include:
- New filter by type for search results, which will make it easier to find exactly what you're looking for.
- We've improved admin search results so that the item with the exact name you searched for should nearly always show up first.
- Searching for a member's full name will now more reliably show members with that exact name at the top of search results for admins with access to member records.
- Partnerships will now appear in search results for users with access to partnerships. †
- Events synced from Mobilize America or EveryAction/VAN will now show up in search results for users with access to events.
- Admins with access to members can now search for a member by entering their CRM-assigned external ID (if your CRM is connected to your ControlShift instance).
- We've updated the experience for users who are searching for content that they don't have admin access to. Instead of showing a never-ending spinner, we'll now just tell them that there are no results.
- We're now using a language-aware parser to provide better results.
- We've updated the experience for moving through multiple pages of search results. Now if you click to go to the next page of results, we'll fade the page so that you know it's loading.
- We've improved page load speeds when moving through multiple pages of search results.
- We've updated the formatting of counts in search results, including the counts used next to filters (to show how many matching petitions/events/etc. there are) and the counts in the search results (to show how many signers/attendees/etc. there are) to use delimiters if appropriate for your locale. †
- We've updated the display when an admin attempts to go to a pre-filtered page of search results (e.g. search results with
?filter=events
at the end of the URL) if they don't have access to that type of search result (e.g. they're not allowed to view events). When that happened, if the user clicked into the search box and pushed Enter to search again, they'd see the items they have access to that matched the search query, but they wouldn't see the filters that they're allowed to add. Now they'll still see the filters. If that was confusing, suffice it to say: we've fixed something so that the experience of searching is what one would expect it to be.
- New filter by type for search results, which will make it easier to find exactly what you're looking for.
- We've updated default fonts throughout the platform to be Graphik-Medium for titles and Graphik-Regular for body text. Organizations with custom font selections will be unaffected, but organizations using our default fonts will see the new font styles on their sites.
- We've updated the way large numbers in the moderation queue (generally, recipient counts for blast emails or signatures for petitions) are formatted. We'll now show delimiters for these counts if appropriate based on your locale. †
- We've removed recipient counts from the "Send to Supporters" and "Send to Attendees" buttons on the petition and event blast email pages. This should improve performance especially for large mailings. †
- The member lookup function on the admin Members page (
/org/members
) now supports searching by a member's external (CRM) ID. We've also revamped the search logic for that feature to provide better results.
Petitions
Updates / Bug Fixes
- When a petition creator receives a contact message from the petition page, the notification email now includes a link to the settings page where contact messages can be turned off. †
Events
Updates / Bug Fixes
- We're now including virtual external events on the public all event (
/events
) list page and the local organizing map (/local
).
Groups
Updates / Bug Fixes
- External events can now be associated with local groups, and these external events will be shown on group pages. To add an external event to a group, go to the external event's ControlShift admin page and click the Add Event to Local Group + button.
- We've updated the way group member counts are formatted to include delimiters, if appropriate for your locale.
Nothing new in VisitThem.
† This feature required new text strings. If you're using the platform in a language other than English and Spanish, you may need to provide updated translations.
