Platform
New
- We've exposed a new signature deletion API that allows you to delete a specific signature from a specific petition. More information is available here: https://developers.controlshiftlabs.com.
- We now support Swiss German. This new translation is the same as our informal German translation (de_AT), but uses "ss" instead of "ß".
- We've added additional defenses against brute force login attempts. With the new updates, if an IP address attempts to unsuccessfully log in 30 times over the course of five minutes, they'll be locked out of the login page for one hour. Similarly, if one account has 30 unsuccessful login attempts, regardless of IP address, the account will be locked. Users can unlock their accounts via an email that we automatically send to the account's email address. Admins can also manually unlock user accounts. If, after a number of unsuccessful login attempts, the user successfully logs into their account, their account's 'unsuccesssful login count' will reset. †
Updates / Bug Fixes
- We recently made an update that changed some organization's buttons to orange, then we performed additional updates to fix that issue.
- We've fixed a bug that was preventing users from creating accounts via Facebook when the organization required explicit GDPR data processing consent.
Petitions
New
- Organizations can now configure an "Are you sure?" message for email opt-ins. To use this option, go to Settings > Email Opt-in Types > Update (next to Web Form) > Radio buttons, with an "Are You Sure?" prompt. With this setting enabled, when a user clicks to not receive email updates, they'll be shown a message asking if they're sure they don't want to receive email communications. The text of the "are you sure" message is customizable. This functionality will be expanded to events soon. †
Events
New
- We've changed the way we handle event forums. Previously, when a not-logged-in user RSVPed to an event, they were shown a popup asking them to create an account to gain access to the event's discussion forum. Now, they'll see a message in the event forum section that prompts them to either create an account or request a magic link. If they request a link, we'll send them an email with a special URL that grants access to the forum. They'll have access until their cookies are reset (when the browser is closed or cookies are manually cleared). When needed, the user can request a new magic link. †
Updates / Bug Fixes
- We previously allowed admins to check the box to override an event's post-signing actions, and then save, without actually choosing a new post-signing action. Now, you'll actually need to choose a new post-signing experience.
- In Dutch, on the edit event page, the event's time automatically switched to AM. This meant that editing any portion of the event would potentially change the event's time, if the editor didn't notice that the am/pm had switched to AM. This is now fixed.
Groups
Updates / Bug Fixes
- When a group organizer went to create a new petition associated with the group, the title help box was mis-styled and didn't disappear when the user when to another box. The new group petition form now looks like the normal new petition form.
Nothing new in VisitThem.
† This feature required new text strings. If you're using the platform in a language other than English, you may need to provide updated translations.
